For today’s post, I will be reviewing the EVO X Turbo Kit Lab America TDO5 TDO6. The EVO X is a turbocharger that has been designed for those with an engine displacement of 2.0 liters and higher. It comes in two models: the TDO5 and the TDO6.

Both have been tested to meet or exceed OEM specifications for your vehicle at all operating temperatures which means you can use it as a replacement part without worrying about any drivability issues. This blog post contains my thoughts on this product after using it in my car for a few days but please read on before making any decisions!

EVO X TURBO

This is a high-quality rebuild kit for the turbocharger used in Mitsubishi Evo 1 – 3 and Evo X vehicles. Made with top-notch materials by experts, this rebuild kit can easily withstand multiples of 34 PSI at full throttle thanks to its exceedingly durable construction and engineering.

This offers an easy way for drivers who are looking to improve their vehicle’s performance, so be confident when you make your purchase knowing that they are backed up with our money-back guarantee! Power Numbers In the past we have written about turbochargers that produce large numbers of power and torque which can only be achieved by a few cars. The EVO X Turbo Lab America (TDO5) TDO6 is one of those rare turbos where it makes enough power to be used in elite-level drag racing.

All of these cars are racing in the new division called Factory Stock Showdown (FS2) class that was made because the old Factory Stock classes were getting too powerful and the cars were reaching speeds of over 120 mph.

The TDO5 can flow a staggering 652 horsepower to the crank at 36 psi boost pressure and 786 horsepower on 100 octane fuel.

That is more than the current fastest car in the world which makes about 1000 horsepower to the flywheel.

This TDO5 turbocharger is used by Al-Anabi Racing who races in Factory Stock Showdown Division (FS2) at NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, and they have a fleet of 2 EVO X’s which are all built to the TDO5 specs.

The TDO6 turbocharger is even more powerful and it can flow 914 horsepower on 100 octane fuel.

This turbo is used by the Georgia GDI racing team which races in Factory Stock Showdown Division (FS2) at NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, and they have a fleet of 4 EVO X’s which are all built to the TDO5 specs.

There are also a few other cars in the Factory Stock Showdown division that use the TDO5 turbocharger like TDI’s and some diesel pickup trucks, but because this turbo is so powerful it will not fit in many of them these vehicles without extensive modifications (which most racers don’t bother with).

FAQ

Can you put an Evo Turbo on a Lancer?

Yes, you can. But it’s not just a matter of throwing parts at the problem to make it work. The engine is different from the Lancer version (Lancer block vs Evo block), and there are many other things that need consideration when doing this swap: transmission torque rating limits, which axles fit, wheelbase, engine cross-member, power steering hoses, etc.

Will Evo X go up in value?

Not necessarily. It will depend on the quality of the build, and who owns it when you try to sell it. The one thing that does not affect value is how clean or pretty something looks, only “How fast is it?” In fact with a turbo upgrade, there is no additional collector value like you would normally find in non-turbo vehicles.

Which is better WRX or Evo?

Depends on what you are asking. In the performance world, The Evo has a better chassis and suspension geometry. In the power department, the STI can take a much larger turbocharger and air-fuel ratio change to extract more power. Also, if your goal is to make 500 WHP+, then one will probably have an easier time doing this with the STI block.

Is it easy to put a Turbo on an Evo X?

No, not at all. In fact, the parts that are involved in putting a turbo onto any drivetrain would be much more expensive than if you were to swap into another chassis that is better suited for it (like a second-hand STI).

What are the most common mistakes you see when building Evo X turbos?

Gapping a turbo to an Evo 10 engine is not just as easy as throwing parts at it. There are many things that need attention and thought such as which axles fit, which transmission will work under the stress of the boost, what size power steering pump can handle this power (not needlessly going with a larger one to compensate for low-pressure systems or not having enough flow) and making sure that your engine cross member can support all the aftermarket upgrades you throw at it.

Oversized turbos are another big mistake I see people doing. Honestly, this is how people will end up destroying their transmission. Remember that the larger a turbocharger you run, the more backpressure there is on your engine. So if someone goes with an oversized turbo and also has bolt-on boost controllers blasting away at 12 PSI over stock boost levels, the weaker parts like rods, pistons, and bearings will be the first to let go.

Will you come out with more power in an Evo X turbo?

Without a doubt! People want to believe that just because their car has 300 WHP stock, it will make 500 WHP once they bolt on a turbo kit. In reality though (and unfortunately), this is never the case and is exactly what I preach against. The engine will have a tougher time breathing when under boost and can be very fragile when you try to extract more power than it was designed for (even with beefed-up internals).
